Saskatchewan Sasquatch Sightings
June 2014 - A trucker and his wife were traveling on Hwy 5 on the way towards Saskatoon, it was raining very hard and just in front of the light shine of the high beams, something black, on 2 legs, crossed the road extremely fast and disappeared into the forest. The driver seen where the creature entered the forest but seen nothing. At first they thought it was a bear, but then thought about it - bears don't run across roads on 2 legs and this thing was fast!! Considering the fact that it was pouring rain, the thing was bipedal and very fast, I do think these people did see a sasquatch, and they both seen it and agree with the details provided. Thanks Abby and Liz.

Noon sighting by fisherman, on the shore of the Churchill River
YEAR: 1992
SEASON: Spring
MONTH: May
DATE: 20
NEAREST TOWN: La Ronge
OBSERVED: May 19,1992 I was fishing in upper Sackewan on the Chuch Hill river, When I Saw the animal(bigfoot). I just caught the biggest northern pike of my life, when I turn around in the boat in total fear. I caught a glimps of the animal on the bank on the river disappearing into the forest. It was approx. 8 foot tall hair all over. I was approx 100 yards from the animal. It took me awhile to calm down and then went back to camp. I mention to the owner that I saw something strange in the forest and he tried to convience me that it was a bear walking upright with a cub through the forest. I did not say I saw bigfoot or a bear just something strange. I have been riduculed so I have been quite about this.
ALSO NOTICED: Owner of the lodge tried to convience me that I saw a bear walking upright when, I never told him anything about the animal except I saw something strange this morning in the woods.
OTHER WITNESSES: none
OTHER STORIES: none I went fishing up here.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: noon fair sky sunny
ENVIRONMENT: Forrest, river

Possible sighting by duck hunter near Wakaw
YEAR: 2005
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: September
DATE: 15
PROVINCE: Saskatchewan
COUNTRY: Canada
LOCATION DETAILS: go down 41 highway past alvena turn on the grid road heading to st. isidore de bellvue...travel about 10 miles ...find the ducks unlimited ...wawryk property and you are pretty much there...
NEAREST TOWN: wakaw
NEAREST ROAD: #5 highway
OBSERVED: I went out duck hunting to a spot near Wakaw Saskatchewan that i have been going to for a few years now. It had rained heavily on the day before i went and the fields were quite wet and muddy. while walking to a good shooting pond i stumbled across something that was very strange.
The crops had been cut and the swaths were still laying in the field..as i stepped over a swath i noticed that there was something white under it. I lifted the swath and found seven dead terns...(small, black headed seagulls..) they had not decomposed at all and looked as though they had not been there for long. they were packed all together in a big lump and not scattered about at all and there were no visible injurys on them. At first i didnt know what to think..then i just figured somehow a raccoon had caught them and stashed them there..because they have tendancies to do things like that with there food...not thinking any more about it i went on to shoot a few ducks and started back to my truck to go home because it was starting to rain...then my luck ran out...as soon as i got moving my truck slid off the shoulder of the mud road and into the ditch...i was stuck...bigtime...so i started walking to go find a farmer top pull me out.
As I walked along the main grid road that connected to the trail my truck was stuck on...i saw something i will never forget...it was raining pretty good and i had my face lookin down toward the road but some movement ahead of me caught my eye...i saw something...it didnt seem really tall...but i was a couple hundred yards away from it..but it was big...i mean real big...wide across the shoulders and no neck just like a big giant head sittin on huge shoulders and short little legs and long arms it was moving extremely fast but not running...it was heading down the ditch at this little valley i was walking through...i saw it for 3 or 4 strides then it disappeared into some trees that were at the bottom...the valley was very narrow but also very long and trees cover the whole bottom of it...it freaked me out...it had to have crossed the road right in front of me but i had my head down and didnt see it till it had crossed the road and was heading into the valley-bottom. When i got to the spot that i figured it must have crossed i found one huge footprint in the muddy sand at the shoulder of the road...it was soaked real good so the footprint was full of water maybe 16 inches long..but probably 5 or 6 inches across at the ball of the foot.
The thing i saw was dark brownish reddish unusual color...I have never heard of sasquatch sightings in the area and i have not told many people about this because i fear being thought of as some kind of nut. I dont know if the dead birds have anything to do with it but they were found only a few hundred yards from the top of the small valley that creature disapeared into.
ALSO NOTICED: just the dead birds i found
TIME AND CONDITIONS: it was shortly after noon... it was raining..but the lighting was good and you could see for a long way
ENVIRONMENT: hills with swathed fields and lots of small patches of trees...lots of creeks and sloughs...very mixed area

Torch Lake, December 2006
A woman from northern Saskatchewan says she saw the legendary sasquatch, and it left behind evidence described by an expert as "the find of the century."
Shaylane Beatty thought she saw a bear by the side of the road on her drive to Prince Albert on Saturday. But as she drove closer, the animal was walking on two legs.
"I've heard the stories before and I didn't believe them. Then I saw the sasquatch," Beatty said.
Driving from Deschambault Lake to do some Christmas shopping on a bright afternoon, the 20-year-old noticed the creature walking along the forest's edge near Torch Lake. It stopped by the side of the road and turned to look at Beatty as she drove by.
About 21/2 metres tall and muscular, with long, floppy arms attached to broad shoulders and covered in dark brown hair, the creature isn't like anything Beatty's seen before, she said.
The shock of seeing such an enormous beast caused a momentary lapse in concentration. Her car swerved and nearly hit the ditch.
"My heart was beating real fast. I was getting dizzy and was short of breath. I kept repeating, 'I can't believe I'm seeing this.' So I pulled over and called my aunt," Beatty said.
Returning to the area the next day, Beatty and her two uncles found in deep snow hundreds of footprints measuring 50 centimetres in length, she said.
"My uncles were struggling to walk through the same snow the sasquatch just breezed through," Beatty said.
Even by jumping, the two men couldn't match the creature's stride, she added.
The tracks were followed until the evening, when darkness prevented further investigation.
"What Shaylane saw is definitely some sort of primate," said Tom Biscardi, who's been hunting sasquatches for 33 years and runs www.searchingforbigfoot.com, where photos of the footprints can be viewed.
The footprints are impressive evidence of the creature's northern wanderings, he added, calling them "the find of the century."
"This particular Bigfoot has found solace in that area. There's probably a cave somewhere that the creature sleeps in," Biscardi said.
Beatty's uncles sent Biscardi, who said he's encountered a sasquatch six times, a hair sample for analysis.
Jeff Meldrum, a professor of anatomy at Idaho State University and author of Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, said three sasquatch sightings have been recorded in Saskatchewan.
"As long as there's forest cover and an area is sparsely populated, there is space to harbour any number of creatures," Meldrum said.
After viewing pictures taken by Beatty's uncles, Meldrum said the length of the footprints are in the range of others already found in North America, but the lack of detail leaves unanswered questions about their validity.
"Given the quality of the photographs, it's impossible to render any meaningful analysis," he said.
But the combination of a personal sighting and physical evidence is intriguing, and if samples of scat or urine are found along the trail of footprints, that would be compelling evidence, Meldrum said.
